I recollect you lot'd be ok--get some clay in the gas tin can? I'd use a funnel with a fine screen myself. But, then, I already have one.

Try a coffee filter. BUT filter from a container into another container NOT the 'machine's' fuel tank. This would forbid contaminating the machine if the coffrr filter fails. Skilful luck.

I think you would be alright if the filter got wet with gas get-go! I remember reading an old play a trick on of getting water out of gas with a brawl cap, the material had to be wet beginning with gas, never had to endeavor it though so be conscientious, Bob.

Jack,

Long answer:

I have viii cans for gasoline. Some for my tractor, two more for mowers - one in my garage, another in my shed in the back m. I go on a standby can near our backup generator. Three different two-cycle mixes.

Every twelvemonth (or so) I similar to completely empty the cans and refill with fresh gasoline - real gasoline, no ethanol. The cans do not play nice and refuse to go on in sync and then I empty the cans into the tractor and drive the 30 miles to a place that yet sells the existent-deal.

When the cans are empty I blow-out whatsoever debris with my Nikon compressor (I might be wrong about the compressor's brand) ;-) I care for all the gasoline with Sea Foam and rarely accept fuel related problems - cleanliness is adjacent to carburetorness.

Now, onto the respond! The pocketbook that holds my paint/gasoline filters was left open and grit from my sanders (garage serves as my woodshop) found its' mode in and soiled them. I was tempted to employ the java filters merely permit this batch get without filtering.

Short answer: I am curious.

Thanks, Jay. With clipping and sawdust and other airborne impurities I simply don't want to take any chances. I have to get another funnel with a fine screen; my ex-son-in-constabulary used mine and kept it just returned my girl. I promise the ESIL gets dirt in HIS carburetor. ;-)

Dirt in a carburetor is like dust on a lens or mirror.

Just a note: I used the aforementioned process for keeping gas fresh until fuel stabilizer for gas containing ethanol striking the market. I use 89 octane in my implements.

I'm lucky to be able to get real gasoline. It lasts a long fourth dimension, engines run improve with it, and I'm non taking carburetors autonomously anymore. I, too, use 89 octane. I beloved Ocean Cream stabilizer and their carb cleaner, although I rarely accept had to utilise the cleaner recently.
